Frequently Asked Questions

When is this year’s Fun Day?

Sadly we weren’t able to go ahead with the Fun Day in 2020. But we’ll be back in 2021 on 5th June.

How do we find Rawdon Fun Day?

The event is held each year on Redbeck Fields, Layton lane, LEEDS, LS19 6QS (Opposite Horsforth Golf Club). See our map and directions here. We have dedicated free parking available in the adjacent fields.

What is the entrance fee?

Tickets are available on the gate only at:
£4.00 for adults
£1.00 for children over 5 years old and up to the age of 16.
or £10 for a family ticket, which includes 2 adults and up to 5 children

Children under 5 go free!

Why do you charge an entrance fee?

Rawdon Fun Day is a not-for-profit fundraising event, put together by a local, dedicated committee of volunteers, which began in 2010. Profits raised via ticket sales and purchases on the day go to charity! It’s a BIG event to organise and we have to do lots of planning and hiring of equipment to ensure the site is safe, powered and full of fun things to do! There are costs involved in putting on the event and we have to recoup this cost before making charity donations so we can continue on into the next year and pay our bills!

There’s lots included in your entrance fee such as live music, arena acts, the kids zone and the priceless community atmosphere! So we hope you find it value for money and want to come back each year… and bring your friends and family too!

Which charities have you supported and why?

As with most charitable organisations, there are stories behind what we do – click here to find out more. The committee is proud of what we do, and that’s why 100% of all the profits we make at our events go directly to our chosen charities.

Every year we donate to Yorkshire Ambulance Service (YAS). We also donate to local charities and causes (or organisations that have supported local people) on a yearly basis. This has included – Bethany’s Smile, A dog for Arthur, Tommys, Callum Hall Trust, OPAL, Leeds Hospital Radio, Great Ormond Street Hospital’ and Funded an AED, Emergency defibrillator which is at Rawdon Fire Station.

Is this a family friendly festival?

Absolutely! There is so much to do for families. We have a dedicated kids zone, an undercover tent with crafts and quieter activities, live music, fairground rides, shows in the arena and much more to keep everyone amused! We also have a dedicated baby changing and breastfeeding area (see the map in your programme on the day for more information)

Is the festival dog-friendly?

We welcome well behaved dogs, who must be kept on a lead at all times. We provide plenty of water bowls around the site for canine refreshment too.

What is there to do at Rawdon Fun Day?

Lots! A great fun day out for all the family with music, fairground rides, bouncy castles, BBQ, beer, gin and champagne tents and a variety of trade stalls.

Displays take place in the main arena and we have bands playing on stage throughout the day.

What is the running order for bands and arena acts this year?

Please visit our Facebook page for an up to date list of who is playing on stage and in the main arena and when!

Can I have a stall?

Local small businesses and stall holders are welcomed. Please contact Carol via for more information. (Please note, stall bookings for the 2018 event have now closed)

How do you raise money for the festival?

We raise money through ticket, drink and food sales etc on the day. We also rely on sponsorship from local businesses and the generosity of local businesses and people giving up their time and equipment for free or reduced rates helps us to keep costs to a minimum. You will find a list of this years sponsors in your programme on the day and advertised around the event. If you are interested in sponsoring (we have packages starting from £50 to sponsor a half barrel of beer, through to area/zone sponsorship opportunities available) please contact Mark via email for more information or come and have a chat with one of the committee members on the day! (You will spot us in our rather fetching orange high vis jackets!!)

Who do I contact about my band playing on stage or in the arena?

Please send us a message through our Facebook page for more information (we have a full line up already for the 2018 event, but welcome advance notice if you are interested in playing next year!)

I’d like to help out! Who can I speak to about volunteering a few hours?

Brilliant – thank you! We are always looking for volunteers to help with the events, without our dedicated local volunteers, Fun Day simply would not happen. On the Fun Day itself there are all sorts of ways you can help including:

  • BBQ
  • Bar
  • Marshalling
  • Car Park
  • Stalls

If you could help us by donating even a few hours of your time (it could be before to get the field ready, during, or after the event to help tidy up) please contact Karen or Janet us via the Facebook page, like our dedicated volunteers facebook page for updates or Call/Text us on 07881605198.

Is there food and drinks available on the day?

YES, lots!! We have a beer tent, serving a selection of local ales, premium lagers and cider and our a prosecco tent, which for the first year will also now have a dedicated gin bar too!
We also have lots of soft drinks available. As well as a BBQ, an ice cream van, popcorn sellers and a kids sweet stall. Some of our independent stall holders will also be selling food to take home… you certainly won’t go hungry!

Will there be any vegetarian food available?

Yes we will have vegetarian burgers and sausages on a separate BBQ. We also have independent stall holders from local small businesses selling cold takeaway produce.
We try our best to accommodate dietary requirements. Please do inform servers of any allergies and preferences you may have when ordering your food.

What time does the air ambulance come in?

One of the highlights of the event each year is a visit from the Yorkshire Air Ambulance helicopter during the middle of the afternoon. The time it lands varies as the ambulance is operational at all times and can be called away to deal with emergency situations at very short notice. We will communicate updates over the tannoy on the day to the best of our knowledge and when it arrives you can certainly expect to notice!!

We look forward to seeing you on the day and thank you for your support!!
